- Bottom Line
The Epic Pass grew up. For 2026–27 it covers more than 90 resorts worldwide, and the interesting change is not a new flagship mountain. It is a price cut for skiers aged 13 to 30, a wider map in Austria, and a European partner system that no longer makes skiers in France book a specific hotel to unlock their days. The hotel points game around those resorts changed just as much: Hyatt and Wyndham both repriced in 2026, Marriott, Hilton and IHG price dynamically, and the best Epic redemption in North America is a Hyatt at the base of Vail Mountain.
This guide covers six programs: World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Choice Privileges and Wyndham Rewards. No other loyalty programs, and no independent lodges, however good they are. Where none of the six works, and Epic has a few famous dead zones, the guide says so plainly and names the nearest chain base instead.
The Loyalist angle: A points price tells you what a night costs. It does not tell you what your status gets you at 7 a.m. on a powder day: breakfast before first lift, a waived resort fee, free parking, a late checkout that matches the last chair, or a suite upgrade that actually clears. Throughout this guide we flag the status perk that matters for skiing, not just in general. Been on one of these trips? Report your stay on Loyalist Travel: what you booked, what you got, and whether status moved the needle is exactly the data this guide is built to collect.
How to Read the Points Ranges
- Standard rooms only, one night, winter season, unless a property is priced per bedroom (Wyndham vacation clubs and Vacasa, flagged every time).
- Ranges are indicative for 2026–27, researched October 2026, not quotes. Dynamic programs (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice) move with cash prices daily. Refundable bookings can be repriced as prices move.
- Cash ranges, where given, are typical mid-winter ranges before taxes and fees, meant for value math, not a promise for Christmas week or Presidents' Weekend, when everything in this guide can double.
What Is New for Winter 2026–27: At a Glance
| Change | What it means in 2026 |
|---|---|
| A young-skier price tier | Pass holders aged 13 to 30 pay 20% less: the Epic Pass launched at $869 for that group against $1,089 for adults, and the Epic Local Pass at $649 against $809. Vail says the tier is permanent |
| Current pass prices | As of October 2026 the adult Epic Pass sits at $1,169 and the Epic Local Pass at $869, with passes usually coming off sale in late November or early December |
| The pass at a glance | More than 90 resorts worldwide. The full Epic Pass is unlimited with no blackout dates at 38 North American resorts, plus Vail's two Swiss resorts and its three Australian resorts |
| Partner days on the full pass | 7 days each at Telluride, Sun Valley and Snowbasin, 7 days total across the six Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, and 5 consecutive days each in Hakuba Valley and at Rusutsu in Japan |
| Zillertal, Austria, went valley-wide | The Mayrhofen and Hintertux partnership now covers the whole Zillertal (Arena, Hochzillertal, Hochfügen, Spieljoch): 5 days total across the valley |
| France got simpler | Les 3 Vallées dropped its partner-hotel lodging requirement. Ski Arlberg is now the only European partner where Epic access requires a stay in participating lodging |
| Hyatt repricing, May 20, 2026 | 5 price bands (Lowest / Low / Moderate / Upper / Top) replaced the old 3. Category 8 now runs 35,000 to 75,000 points, and the Category 1–7 certificate no longer reaches the top ski hotels |
| Wyndham repricing, Sept 15, 2026 | The fixed chart is now 5,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 / 45,000 per bedroom per night. Entry tier cheaper, top resorts more expensive, and the Earner card certificates still cap at 30,000 |
| A new base-area hotel in Breckenridge | Hotel Alpenrock, Curio Collection by Hilton, opened in January 2025 at the Peak 9 base, a five-minute walk to the lifts. Hilton finally has an upscale flag in Breckenridge |
| Stowe's slope-side Hyatt went top category | The Lodge at Spruce Peak, Destination by Hyatt, rose to Category 8 in Hyatt's 2026 category changes. The East's best ski-in/ski-out redemption now prices at 35,000 to 75,000 points |
The 2026 Program Cheat Sheet
| Program | How awards price in 2026 | Free-night lever | Resort fee on awards? | Transfer partners that matter | Status perk that matters for skiing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| World of Hyatt | Published chart, 5 bands per category | Category 1–4 and 1–7 certificates; Guest of Honor | Waived on award nights, a real $30–$60 a night in ski towns | Chase Ultimate Rewards, Bilt. Note: Chase Sapphire Preferred / Ink Preferred transfers to Hyatt dropped from 1:1 to 4:3 on Oct 1, 2026 (Sapphire Reserve stays 1:1) | Globalist: free breakfast, 4 p.m. late checkout, waived parking on awards, Suite Upgrade Awards that confirm at booking |
| Marriott Bonvoy | Fully dynamic, no chart | 5th night free on points; 35k / 50k / 85k certificates, top up with up to 15k points | Usually still charged on awards at resorts | Amex Membership Rewards, Chase (both generally poor value at 1:1 against cash) | Platinum+: breakfast choice at most resort brands, lounge where offered, Nightly Upgrade Awards (clearance is assessed a few days before arrival) |
| Hilton Honors | Dynamic, but standard-room rewards carry a property-level cap | 5th night free for Silver and above; Aspire free-night certificate works on any standard room | Waived on award nights | Amex Membership Rewards at 1:2, the reason Hilton balances are easy to build | Diamond: space-available upgrades, executive lounge or food-and-beverage credit; Gold's credit often covers an early breakfast |
| IHG One Rewards | Dynamic, closely tracks cash | 4th night free with IHG Premier / Business cards; anniversary night with unlimited points top-off | Varies by property; the total is what counts, not the headline rate | Chase, Bilt | Diamond / Milestone: confirmed suite upgrades and lounge access as Milestone Rewards; Platinum (free with the Premier card) gets upgrades when available |
| Choice Privileges | Date-based ranges, more dynamic after Choice's 2026 program revamp | No 4th/5th-night-free; value comes from cheap headline prices and Preferred Hotels & Resorts awards from ~20,000 points | Usually none at US midscale brands | Wells Fargo 1:2, Amex 1:1, Capital One 1:1, Citi 1:1.5 | Status matters least here. Choice is a price play, not a perks play; breakfast is included at Comfort / Quality / Sleep Inn anyway |
| Wyndham Rewards | Fixed chart: 5,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 / 45,000 per bedroom from Sept 15, 2026 | Earner card 10% / Earner Premier 25% redemption discounts; anniversary certificates cap at 15k / 30k and do not reach the new 45k tier | Rarely, except Caesars brands | Capital One, Citi, Bilt and others, at ratios that vary by bank | Same story as Choice: the win is a condo with a kitchen and a washer/dryer for a fixed price, not elite treatment |
The Slope-Side Shortlist: Best in Each Program
If you read nothing else, read this. These are the Epic Pass stays where points still beat cash by a mile in 2026:
- Hyatt, Grand Hyatt Vail (CO). Category 7, so 25,000 to 55,000 points under the May 2026 chart, at the base of Vail Mountain in Cascade Village with its own lift outside the door. Cash in season runs several times the points value, the resort fee disappears on award nights, and Globalist breakfast lands before first lift. The single best Epic redemption in this guide.
- Marriott, Delta Hotels Whistler Village Suites (BC). The value surprise in Whistler: standard rooms on many dates from around 40,000 points, suites bookable at standard rates, and a 35k certificate plus 15k top-up can reach it. The Westin up the street is the luxury pick at roughly 60,000 on peak dates; the Delta is the math pick.
- Hilton, Waldorf Astoria Park City (UT). Standard rooms around 110,000 points in ski season at Canyons Village, with the Frostwood Gondola across the street. The natural home for an Aspire certificate plus 5th-night-free combination.
- IHG, the honest answer. IHG has no slope-side flagship on the Epic map. Its strength is the town base: Holiday Inn Express properties in Breckenridge, Park City (Kimball Junction), Gunnison (for Crested Butte) and the East's chain towns, where the 4th-night-free card benefit turns $250–$350 cash nights into reasonable points math.
- Choice, the Summit County and Gunnison play. Comfort and Quality properties in Silverthorne and Gunnison price on date-based ranges that stay calm when dynamic programs spike. Nobody brags about these stays; everybody's points balance survives them.
- Wyndham, Club Wyndham Park City (UT). Fixed pricing per bedroom in Canyons Village, next door to the Waldorf. At the mid tier, a one-bedroom condo by the gondola costs a fraction of what the dynamic programs charge on the same street, and the kitchen pays for itself by day two.
Colorado: The Heart of the Pass
Vail
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Hyatt Vail | Hyatt | Cascade Village, own lift at the base of Vail Mountain, effectively ski-in/ski-out | Category 7: 25,000–55,000 on the published chart. Winter historically priced at the top bands; the post-change reported average sits near 33,000 a night across the year |
| The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort | Marriott | Lionshead Village, short walk or shuttle to the Eagle Bahn Gondola | Dynamic. The renovated former Vail Marriott; expect peak-season pricing at the top of Marriott's range |
| Highline Vail, DoubleTree | Hilton | West Vail, hotel shuttle serves the village base areas | Dynamic; the value flag in Vail proper |
Vail is one of the few Epic resorts where three of the six programs stand within the town boundary. IHG, Choice and Wyndham have nothing in Vail itself; their nearest cluster is Avon and Eagle, 15 to 35 minutes west (see Beaver Creek).
Loyalist note: Grand Hyatt Vail is Hyatt's only Vail property and the rare ski redemption where the status math and the points math agree. Award nights skip the resort fee entirely, which at this address is a saving of roughly $55 a night before breakfast enters the picture.
Beaver Creek
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Park Hyatt Beaver Creek | Hyatt | Slope-side in Beaver Creek Village, beside the ice rink | Category 8: 35,000–75,000 on the published chart; reported averages run about 10,000 a night above Grand Hyatt Vail at peak |
| The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch | Marriott | Ski-in/ski-out at Bachelor Gulch, own lift | Dynamic, at the top of Marriott's range in season |
| The Westin Riverfront, Avon | Marriott | Avon, Riverfront Express Gondola to the Beaver Creek landing | Dynamic; reported typical pricing runs from ~61,000 off-peak to ~100,000 on peak ski weekends, with one-bedroom suites far higher. A resort fee around $45 still applies on awards |
| Sheraton Mountain Vista Villas, Avon | Marriott (Vacation Club) | Avon, shuttle to lifts | Dynamic; the extra-space play for families |
Hilton's Beaver Creek answer is the Highline in Vail, one town east. There is no IHG, Choice or Wyndham property in Beaver Creek or Avon proper.
Breckenridge
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel Alpenrock, Curio Collection | Hilton | Peak 9 base area, 5-minute walk to the Quicksilver Super6 and Beaver Run SuperChair, steps from Main Street | Dynamic. Opened January 2025 in the former DoubleTree after a two-year renovation; 205 rooms and Breckenridge's first true upscale flag |
| Residence Inn Breckenridge | Marriott | In town, walk or shuttle to the Peak 9 base | Dynamic; suites and full kitchens suit a 4–5 night stay |
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Breckenridge | IHG | South end of town near Peak 9 | Dynamic; the 4th-night-free card benefit does the heavy lifting |
| Valdoro Mountain Lodge, Hilton Grand Vacations | Hilton | Near Peak 9 | Dynamic; points inventory skews to premium-priced units |
There is no Hyatt in Breckenridge. Summit County's Frisco and Silverthorne cluster, 15 to 25 minutes north, is where Choice and Wyndham live (see Keystone), and it serves Breckenridge days just as well.
Keystone
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Place Keystone / Dillon | Hyatt | On US-6 in Keystone, about 0.4 miles to the Peru Express lift and 0.8 miles to the River Run Gondola, free area shuttle | Historically Category 4, which prices at 12,000–25,000 on the May 2026 chart. Three hot tubs and included breakfast make it the best budget ski redemption in Colorado |
| Hampton Inn & Suites Silverthorne | Hilton | Silverthorne, ~15 min | Dynamic |
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Silverthorne | IHG | Silverthorne, ~15 min | Dynamic |
| Comfort Suites / Quality Inn & Suites Summit County | Choice | Silverthorne and Frisco, 15–25 min | Date-based ranges; the calm-price option on powder weekends |
| La Quinta / Days Inn Silverthorne | Wyndham | Silverthorne, ~15 min | Fixed chart per night; both sat in the old 15,000 tier before the September 2026 reshuffle |
Keystone's own lodge inventory (Keystone Lodge & Spa, Inn at Keystone) is resort-operated and not bookable on points. The Hyatt Place, unglamorous as it sounds, is the mountain's points hotel.
Crested Butte
The honest flag: none of the six programs has a hotel in Crested Butte or Mt. Crested Butte. The Elevation Hotel and its neighbours are independent, and this is the thinnest flagship-resort lodging market on the Epic Pass in Colorado.
The working base is Gunnison, about 30 miles and 35–40 minutes south:
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gunnison | IHG | Gunnison; the hotel markets the Crested Butte trade directly | Dynamic; 4th-night-free applies |
| Quality Inn Gunnison–Crested Butte | Choice | Gunnison | Date-based ranges |
| Comfort Inn Gunnison | Choice | Gunnison | Date-based ranges |
Treat Crested Butte as a drive-in resort on points: sleep in Gunnison at midscale prices, spend the savings on the mountain.
Utah: Park City (And a Word About Its Neighbour)
Park City Mountain is the Epic resort in town. Deer Valley, across the same valley, belongs to the other pass; its hotels appear in our Ikon Pass guide. The two share a town, a bus system and an airport run, so several Park City bases serve both.
Park City Mountain
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Centric Park City | Hyatt | Canyons Village, ski-in/ski-out by the Sunrise Lift | Published chart pricing (the former Escala Lodge, reflagged as a Centric; the Escala Provisions name survives on the restaurant) |
| Hyatt Place Park City | Hyatt | Prospector area in town, ~12 min by free bus | Historically Category 4: 12,000–25,000 on the May 2026 chart |
| Waldorf Astoria Park City | Hilton | Canyons Village, Frostwood Gondola across the street | Dynamic; standard rooms reported around 110,000 in ski season |
| Sunrise Lodge, Hilton Grand Vacations | Hilton | Base of Canyons Village by the Sunrise Lift | Dynamic; points inventory skews premium, with peak minimums reported from ~130,000 and standard rooms nearer ~61,000 off-peak |
| Club Wyndham Park City | Wyndham | Canyons Village, next to the Waldorf | Fixed chart, per bedroom; it sat in the 15,000-per-bedroom mid tier before the September 2026 reshuffle |
| DoubleTree by Hilton Park City, The Yarrow | Hilton | In town | Dynamic |
| Marriott's MountainSide | Marriott (Vacation Club) | Slope-side at the Park City base area | Dynamic |
| Hotel Park City, Autograph Collection | Marriott | In town, golf-course setting | Dynamic |
| Sheraton Park City / AC Hotel Park City | Marriott | In town | Dynamic |
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Park City | IHG | Kimball Junction, ~10 min by bus | Dynamic; a sensible 4th-night-free base |
Loyalist note: Canyons Village is the points neighbourhood. A Hyatt, the Waldorf, an HGV and the Club Wyndham all stand within a few hundred metres of the same gondolas, which makes Park City the easiest Epic resort in America to comparison-shop on points.
Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia
Whistler has exactly three points hotels in the six programs, all in the Village. There is no Hyatt, IHG or Choice property in Whistler.
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler | Marriott | Village, a few hundred feet from the Whistler Gondola and ski school | Dynamic; standard rooms reported around 60,000 on peak dates, with a five-night stay pricing near 240,000 once the 5th night free lands. Cash on the same dates runs $500–$1,000+ |
| Delta Hotels Whistler Village Suites | Marriott | Village, ~4-minute walk to the gondolas | Dynamic; many dates reported from ~40,000, suites bookable at standard rates, and a 35k certificate plus 15k top-up reaches it |
| Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa | Hilton | Village, steps from the Blackcomb gondolas | Dynamic |
| WorldMark Cascade Lodge | Wyndham (timeshare) | Village North | Occasional points inventory; a timeshare redemption, not a conventional hotel booking |
The Delta is the connoisseur's pick here: the cheapest of the three, the most generous with suites at standard rates, and close enough to the gondolas that the Westin's price premium buys very little.
The Partner Resorts: Telluride, Sun Valley, Snowbasin
Full Epic Pass holders get 7 days at each of these. Epic Local does not include Telluride, and partner days are a full-pass benefit across the board. The lodging picture at all three is thin, each in its own way.
Telluride, Colorado: No Points Hotel
No hotel from any of the six programs exists in Telluride or Mountain Village. The slope-side luxury set (Madeline, the Fairmont Heritage Place, Lumière, The Peaks) sits outside the six programs entirely. The nearest chain bases are Ouray (Quality Inn, Choice, roughly 50 minutes in winter) and Montrose (a full midscale chain town, 65–75 minutes). Telluride on Epic is a cash-lodging trip; the pass saves money at the ticket window, not at the hotel desk.
Sun Valley, Idaho: One Hotel and a Fallback
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun Valley, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel | Marriott | Downtown Ketchum, ~5 min to the River Run base of Bald Mountain | Dynamic. The Wood River Valley's only full-service hotel in the six programs (it trades locally on the Hotel Ketchum identity) |
| AmericInn by Wyndham, Hailey | Wyndham | Hailey, ~12 miles / ~20 min south of Ketchum | Fixed chart per night |
The Sun Valley Lodge and the Limelight Ketchum sit outside the six programs. There is no Hyatt, Hilton, IHG or Choice property in the valley.
Snowbasin, Utah: The Ogden Strategy
There is no six-program hotel at the mountain; Huntsville and Eden are independent-lodge country. The play is Ogden, about 20–25 minutes away, where cash prices are a fraction of Park City's and every program has a flag:
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hilton Garden Inn Ogden | Hilton | Downtown Ogden, ~20 min to the mountain by the hotel's own reckoning | Dynamic |
| Hampton Inn & Suites / Home2 / Tru, Ogden | Hilton | Ogden corridor | Dynamic |
| Courtyard Ogden | Marriott | Downtown Ogden | Dynamic |
| Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ogden | IHG | Ogden | Dynamic |
| Sleep Inn Ogden | Choice | Ogden | Date-based ranges |
| Super 8 Ogden | Wyndham | Ogden | Fixed chart per night |
Layton, about 30 minutes out, adds a second full chain cluster. Ogden is an inexpensive cash market in its own right, which is the real story: this is the one Epic partner where paying cash and saving the points is often the correct answer.
Tahoe: Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood
Heavenly
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marriott's Timber Lodge | Marriott (Vacation Club) | Heavenly Village, steps from the gondola | Dynamic |
| Marriott Grand Residence Club | Marriott | Heavenly Village | Dynamic |
| Holiday Inn Club Vacations Tahoe Ridge Resort | IHG | Nevada side above Stateline, ski access onto Heavenly | From ~35,000 as reported in current roundups |
| Hilton Vacation Club Tahoe Seasons | Hilton | South Lake Tahoe, near the California base area | Dynamic |
| Holiday Inn Express South Lake Tahoe | IHG | In town, near Heavenly Village | Dynamic |
| Days Inn South Lake Tahoe | Wyndham | In town | Fixed chart per night |
One loss worth knowing: the big hotel in Heavenly Village that flew a Hilton flag for years reopened in December 2023 as the Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe, an independent. Hilton's Heavenly presence now runs through its vacation club on Saddle Road.
Northstar
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe | Marriott | Mid-mountain at Northstar, true ski-in/ski-out; Highlands Gondola down to the Village | Dynamic; reported from ~78,400 a night, with peak ski dates reported up to ~152,000 against cash that can pass $2,500 |
| Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge | Hyatt | In Northstar Village, direct Highlands Gondola access | Vacation-club award pricing; award stays at this property are booked by phone, and some standard World of Hyatt benefits do not apply |
| Martis Valley Lodge, Tapestry Collection | Hilton | Truckee, on Highway 267 on the Northstar access road | Dynamic. Opened July 1, 2025 after a $9M conversion of the former Hampton Inn |
| SpringHill Suites Truckee | Marriott | Truckee | Dynamic |
And the basin's other Hyatt: Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village moved up to Category 6 (20,000–40,000) in the 2026 category changes. It is a superb lake resort and the only full-service Hyatt in the basin, but its ski shuttle serves Diamond Peak, which is not an Epic resort. Northstar is a 31-minute drive. Treat it as a lake stay with a ski day attached, not a ski base.
Kirkwood
None of the six programs works at Kirkwood. On-mountain lodging is resort-run condos, the highway in is Highway 88, and the nearest chain beds are in South Lake Tahoe, roughly 35 miles away. Kirkwood days run on the Heavenly base above, with an early start and an eye on the weather.
The East
Stowe, Vermont
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Lodge at Spruce Peak | Hyatt (Destination by Hyatt) | Ski-in/ski-out at the Spruce Peak base, ski valet, gondola to Mount Mansfield | Category 8: 35,000–75,000 on the May 2026 chart (it rose from Category 7 in the 2026 category changes) |
| Penthouses at Spruce Peak | Hyatt (Destination by Hyatt) | Same address, residence-style units | Category 8 chart pricing |
| Fairfield Inn & Suites Waterbury Stowe | Marriott | Waterbury, ~15–20 min to Stowe village plus the lift drive | Dynamic |
There is no Hilton, IHG, Choice or Wyndham property in Stowe or Waterbury; the wider fallback is the Burlington and Williston cluster, about an hour out. Spruce Peak is the headline: the East's only slope-side redemption in the six programs, now priced like the flagship it is.
Okemo and Mount Snow, Vermont
Neither Ludlow (Okemo) nor Dover/Wilmington (Mount Snow) has a six-program hotel; the on-mountain inns are resort-run. The working bases:
| Resort | Base | Options in the six |
|---|---|---|
| Okemo | Springfield, VT (~16 mi) | Holiday Inn Express Springfield (IHG) |
| Okemo | Rutland, VT | Hampton Inn Rutland (Hilton), Holiday Inn Rutland–Killington Area (IHG) |
| Mount Snow | Brattleboro, VT (~20 mi) | Holiday Inn Express & Suites Brattleboro (IHG), Hampton Inn Brattleboro (Hilton) |
Attitash and Wildcat, New Hampshire: The North Conway Base
There is no six-program slope-side hotel at either mountain. North Conway, 8 miles (about 14 minutes) from Attitash and roughly 25 minutes from Wildcat, carries the whole play, and it got stronger recently:
| Hotel | Program | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Residence Inn North Conway / Fairfield Inn & Suites North Conway | Marriott | The reliable pair on White Mountain Highway |
| Hilton Garden Inn North Conway | Hilton | Opened September 2024 |
| Home2 Suites / Hampton Inn & Suites North Conway | Hilton | Suite and family stock |
| Hotel Indigo North Conway | IHG | Opened December 2025 in Intervale; IHG's newest flag in the valley |
Crotched, New Hampshire
Nothing workable near the mountain; the area's inns are independent. The nearest chain base is Keene, with a Courtyard and a Fairfield Inn & Suites (both Marriott), about 20 miles from Bennington.
Hunter, New York
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scribner's Catskill Lodge (Design Hotels) | Marriott | Hunter, a 2-minute drive (13-minute walk) to the lifts | Dynamic. Design Hotels members do not deliver every standard Bonvoy perk |
| Wylder Hotel Windham | Hilton (via SLH) | Windham, ~12 miles from Hunter Mountain | Dynamic. Joined SLH in August 2024 and became Honors-bookable with it |
No Hyatt, IHG, Choice or Wyndham property stands in Hunter or Windham.
Pennsylvania: Seven Hills, One Pattern
None of Pennsylvania's Epic resorts has a six-program hotel at the mountain. All of them have a chain town within striking distance:
| Resort | Base and best options |
|---|---|
| Jack Frost / Big Boulder | White Haven and Lake Harmony: Holiday Inn Express White Haven (IHG, ~4.7 mi), Comfort Inn Pocono Mountains and Econo Lodge Lake Harmony (Choice), Willowbrook Village at Lake Harmony (Wyndham) |
| Seven Springs / Hidden Valley | Somerset carries a full row: Fairfield Inn (Marriott), Hampton Inn (Hilton), Holiday Inn Express (IHG), Comfort Inn and Quality Inn (Choice), Wingate and Days Inn (Wyndham). Donegal adds a Holiday Inn Express (IHG) and Days Inn (Wyndham) by the Turnpike |
| Laurel Mountain | Ramada Ligonier (Wyndham) in town; SpringHill Suites Latrobe (Marriott) and Hampton Inn Latrobe (Hilton) as the second base |
| Liberty | Gettysburg (~15 min): Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn (Hilton), Courtyard (Marriott), Wyndham Gettysburg, Holiday Inn Express (IHG), Quality Inn and Comfort Suites (Choice) |
| Whitetail | James Buchanan Hotel, Trademark by Wyndham, in Mercersburg itself, ~6 miles from the resort; Hagerstown and Chambersburg carry the deeper stock (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham) |
| Roundtop | Mechanicsburg / Camp Hill (~15 min): Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg S (IHG), TownePlace Suites (Marriott), Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn Harrisburg West (Hilton), Penn Harris Hotel (Wyndham, Trademark) |
The Midwest
Epic's Midwest hills are day-trip mountains, and the points story matches: no slope-side anything, and base towns that reward whichever balance is closest to expiring.
| Resort | The base that works |
|---|---|
| Wilmot, WI | Nothing in Wilmot. Kenosha / Pleasant Prairie (~20–25 mi) carries DoubleTree and Hampton (Hilton), SpringHill and Fairfield (Marriott), Holiday Inn Express and Candlewood (IHG), Comfort Inn (Choice), Super 8 / Days Inn / La Quinta (Wyndham). Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Lake Geneva Resort (IHG) is the resort-flavoured option. No Hyatt anywhere near |
| Afton Alps, MN | Woodbury / Oakdale, ~9–10 mi: Residence Inn, Courtyard, Sheraton (Marriott); Hilton Garden Inn and two Hamptons (Hilton); Holiday Inn Express pair (IHG); La Quinta and Wingate (Wyndham); Comfort properties (Choice). The deepest Midwest stock after Brighton. No Hyatt |
| Mt. Brighton, MI | The strongest Midwest coverage, in Brighton town itself, minutes from the lifts: Courtyard Brighton (Marriott), Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites (Hilton), two Holiday Inn Express properties (IHG), Wingate (Wyndham). No Choice, no Hyatt |
| Boston Mills / Brandywine, OH | Nothing in Peninsula. Richfield / Stow / Hudson clusters (~10–20 min): Holiday Inn Express Richfield and Staybridge Suites Stow (IHG), Hilton Garden Inn Twinsburg and Hamptons (Hilton), Fairfield and Courtyard Stow (Marriott), Quality Inn (Choice), La Quinta / Baymont / Super 8 (Wyndham) |
| Alpine Valley, OH | Mentor / Willoughby base (~11–15 mi): Holiday Inn Express Painesville-Concord and Holiday Inn Mentor (IHG), Courtyard Willoughby (Marriott), Hilton Garden Inn Mayfield Village and Hampton Mentor (Hilton), Comfort Inn (Choice), Wingate and Super 8 (Wyndham) |
| Mad River Mountain, OH | Bellefontaine (~18 min) has exactly two: Comfort Inn (Choice) and Super 8 (Wyndham). Marysville, farther out, adds Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Choice |
| Paoli Peaks, IN | Nothing in Paoli. Comfort Suites French Lick (Choice, ~7 mi) is the only near option; Bedford and Jasper carry the next ring (IHG, Hilton, Marriott, Choice) |
| Snow Creek, MO | Nothing in Weston. Leavenworth, KS (~11 mi): Home2 and Hampton (Hilton), Fairfield and TownePlace (Marriott). Platte City / KCI adds Wyndham (Ramada, Travelodge) and IHG airport stock |
| Hidden Valley, MO | Eureka: Holiday Inn Six Flags (IHG), Super 8 Eureka (Wyndham), Comfort Inn / Quality Inn in Pacific (Choice). Chesterfield's suburbs add Hyatt Place St. Louis/Chesterfield, the only Hyatt in this entire Midwest sweep |
Resorts of the Canadian Rockies: The Partner Tier
Full Epic Pass holders get 7 days total across all six RCR resorts, no blackout dates, with half-price lift tickets after the seven are used. Two mechanical notes: RCR is not on the Epic Local Pass, and RCR resorts require the physical Epic Pass card plus photo ID; the mobile pass does not work there.
Fernie, British Columbia
The slope-side lodges are independent, the in-town chain flagship flies a flag outside the six programs, and Fernie's old Wyndham-branded motel on Highway 3 now trades as an independent. Verdict: no verified six-program hotel in Fernie. The nearest chain base is Cranbrook (see Kimberley), roughly an hour and a quarter away. Fernie on Epic is a cash-lodging trip.
Kicking Horse, British Columbia: The Golden Base
The resort village's lodges are independent. Golden, about 15 minutes down the road, carries a small and unusually Wyndham-heavy row:
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holiday Inn Express Golden–Kicking Horse | IHG | Golden, ~8.4 mi from the resort | Dynamic |
| Super 8 / Ramada Limited / Days Inn / Travelodge, Golden | Wyndham | In town | Fixed chart per night; four Wyndham brands in one small town is a genuine oddity, and a useful one |
No Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt or Choice property stands in Golden.
Kimberley, British Columbia
Slope-side Trickle Creek Lodge is resort-operated and sits outside the six programs, and no in-town Kimberley hotel flies one of the six flags either. The base is Cranbrook (about 30 minutes): Days Inn and Super 8 (Wyndham) and Econo Lodge (Choice).
Nakiska, Alberta
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge (Autograph Collection) | Marriott | Kananaskis Village, under 5 km from Nakiska; the lodge puts the chairlift at under 10 minutes | Dynamic. 317 rooms, the RCR tier's one true resort hotel in the six programs, with a renovated 71-room Black Diamond Club wing opened in May 2025 |
Canmore (35 minutes) is the fallback: Holiday Inn Canmore (IHG), Super 8 Canmore (Wyndham) and WorldMark condo stock.
Mont-Sainte-Anne, Québec
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delta Hotels Mont Sainte-Anne | Marriott | Beaupré, at the foot of the mountain, ski-in/ski-out, billed as the only resort there with direct slope access | Dynamic. About 30 minutes from Québec City |
Stoneham, Québec
The Hôtel Stoneham is resort-run and independent. The base is Québec City (about 30 minutes): DoubleTree and Hampton Inn & Suites Beauport (Hilton), Delta Québec, Hotel PUR and Courtyard (Marriott), Travelodge and Super 8 (Wyndham), and Choice's Ascend and Quality flags. No Hyatt or IHG property surfaced in the city listings.
Europe: The Partner Map
Epic's European access runs on partner mechanics, and the details matter more than the hotel list. Days are exchanged at a ticket window with the physical pass and photo ID; the mobile pass does not scan at partner resorts. Several allotments are consecutive days, and the Epic Day Pass includes neither Verbier nor Japan.
| Area | Epic access (full pass) | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Les 3 Vallées, France | 7 consecutive days | The old partner-hotel lodging requirement is gone for 2026–27 |
| Skirama Dolomiti, Italy | 7 consecutive days | Eight areas under one allotment, Madonna di Campiglio the headline |
| Verbier 4 Vallées, Switzerland | 5 consecutive days | Also the only European partner on Epic Local, with restricted dates |
| Crans-Montana, Switzerland | Unlimited (Vail-owned) | Epic Local gets 5 days |
| Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, Switzerland | Unlimited (Vail-owned) | Epic Local gets 5 days |
| Ski Arlberg, Austria | 3 consecutive days | Lodging-gated: access requires a stay in participating Arlberg lodging |
| Sölden, Austria | 5 days | No Epic Local access |
| Saalbach / Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria | 5 days total across the ALPIN CARD resorts | No Epic Local access |
| Silvretta Montafon, Austria | 5 consecutive days | No Epic Local access |
| Zillertal, Austria | 5 days total, now valley-wide | The 2026–27 expansion story |
Tignes and Val d'Isère are worth an explicit note: the Espace Killy partnership ended years ago and neither resort appears on the 2026–27 Epic roster. Any older guide still sending Epic skiers there is out of date.
Verbier
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| W Verbier | Marriott | Ski-in/ski-out at the Médran lift area | Dynamic. A full Bonvoy property, and the only core-brand hotel in the six programs in Verbier |
| Experimental Chalet Verbier | Hyatt (Mr & Mrs Smith) | In the village | Dynamic by design; Smith stays price dynamically through Hyatt channels |
| La Cordée des Alpes | Hilton (via SLH) | In the village | Dynamic. SLH participation in Hilton Honors runs property by property, and its rooms surface on Hilton channels in the periods when it participates |
Ski Arlberg: St. Anton and Lech
The lodging gate shapes everything here: three days of skiing require a stay in participating Arlberg lodging, so the hotel is not just a bed, it is the ticket. Whether a points booking at a specific property satisfies the gate is a property-level detail.
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kristiania Lech | Hilton (via SLH) | Lech am Arlberg, 29 rooms | Dynamic. Hilton carries a live listing for the property with Honors benefits attached |
| St. Anton boutique set | Hilton (via SLH) | St. Anton am Arlberg | Dynamic. SLH flies several flags in town (Hotel Tannenhof among them); participation in Honors varies by property and season |
No core-brand hotel from the six programs stands in the Arlberg. Innsbruck and the Zillertal towns are the chain-hotel fallback for the region, at the cost of the daily drive.
Les 3 Vallées
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Six Senses Residences Courchevel | IHG | Courchevel | Dynamic. Six Senses sits inside IHG One Rewards, and the Courchevel residences are among the brand's bookable alpine addresses |
| M Lodge | Hyatt (Mr & Mrs Smith) | Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, lift access into the 3 Vallées circuit | Dynamic; the property participates in World of Hyatt through the Smith collection |
| Le Fitz Roy / Le Val Thorens | Hyatt (Mr & Mrs Smith) | Val Thorens | Dynamic |
Courchevel's palace hotels and Méribel's chalets mostly sit outside the six programs. The Smith and SLH collections are the working doors into this valley on points, priced dynamically and proud of it.
Skirama Dolomiti: Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo
No core-brand hotel from the six programs stands in Madonna di Campiglio itself. The points route is Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti in Pinzolo, a few minutes down the valley, which carries Small Luxury Hotels of the World membership and with it the Hilton Honors route into the Skirama area, at dynamic prices. Beyond that, Campiglio is independent-hotel country, and the honest recommendation mirrors Crested Butte: the pass covers the skiing, cash covers the bed.
Crans-Montana and Andermatt: Vail's Own Swiss Resorts
Both resorts are unlimited on the full Epic Pass, which makes their lodging gaps more noticeable.
- Crans-Montana: Six Senses Crans-Montana is ski-in/ski-out and flies an IHG brand flag; its points bookability has been inconsistent since its 2023 opening, so it reads as a bonus when it prices on points rather than a plan to build a trip around. The rest of the town's luxury set sits outside the six programs.
- Andermatt: a genuine dead zone for the six. The Radisson Blu in Andermatt belongs to Radisson's European program, and Choice Privileges' Radisson connection covers the Americas only, so it is not a Choice redemption. The Chedi and the village hotels sit outside the six as well. Andermatt on Epic is a cash stay, ideally a short one paired with the unlimited skiing.
Japan: Hakuba Valley and Rusutsu
Epic's Japan access is 5 consecutive days in Hakuba Valley (usable across its 10 resorts, moving between them inside the five days) and 5 consecutive days at Rusutsu. Epic Local carries both with holiday restrictions; the Epic Day Pass includes neither.
Hakuba
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba | Marriott | Hokujo, Hakuba; convenient to Happo-One, with an onsen | Dynamic. 72 rooms, the valley's only hotel in the six programs |
Hakuba's ryokan and lodge scene does the rest. The Courtyard is the points anchor; everything else in the valley is a cash conversation.
Rusutsu
| Hotel | Program | Access | 2026 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Westin Rusutsu Resort | Marriott | At the resort; a short monorail ride or 5–10 minute walk to the lifts rather than true ski-in/ski-out | Dynamic, and peak dates price high: a single late-2025 reader report put year-end nights in the 88,000–104,000 range. One report is a signal, not a range |
The Westin remains a full Marriott Bonvoy property, which makes Rusutsu the rare international partner where a mainstream points booking and the pass days line up in the same building.
Australia: Perisher, Falls Creek, Hotham
All three are Vail-owned and sit on the pass for the southern winter (June to October). The lodging answer is the shortest in this guide: none of the six programs has a hotel in Jindabyne, Perisher, Bright, Hotham or Falls Creek. The headline chain properties in those towns (Rydges at Jindabyne, QT at Falls Creek) run their own house programs. Australian Epic skiing on points means earning the points somewhere else; the beds are cash, and booking early matters more than any loyalty angle.
How to Stock Up: 2026 Edition
| Program | Best move in 2026 | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Hyatt | Bilt (1:1) and Chase, with the Sapphire Preferred / Ink Preferred ratio now at 4:3 since Oct 1, 2026; Sapphire Reserve holds 1:1 | Category 1–7 certificates no longer reach Category 8 ski icons (Park Hyatt Beaver Creek) at any band |
| Marriott | Earn through stays and cards; transfer ratios from Amex and Chase are usually poor value against cash | Resort fees on award nights at the big ski properties, and dynamic prices that double between a Tuesday and a powder Saturday |
| Hilton | Amex 1:2 is the engine; frequent transfer bonuses stretch it further | Premium-room pricing dressed up as availability at the HGV properties; the standard-room rate is the one that counts |
| IHG | Chase and Bilt transfers for a specific stay; buy-points sales near 0.5¢ are often rational where cash runs $250+ | No slope-side flagship on the Epic map; IHG value here is a town-base strategy, and the 4th night free does most of the work |
| Choice | Wells Fargo 1:2 remains the standout transfer in US loyalty; Citi dropped to 1:1.5 in April 2026 | Date-based pricing crept more dynamic in 2026; the calm prices live in base towns (Silverthorne, Gunnison) rather than resort villages |
| Wyndham | Capital One and other bank transfers at modest ratios; co-branded Earner cards for the redemption discount | The Sept 15, 2026 reshuffle moved individual hotels between tiers; a hotel that was 15k last season may be 30k (or 45k) now, so the specific property's current tier is what matters |
The universal ski-trip rules, 2026 edition:
- Book points the day the pass goes on sale. Slope-side award inventory (Grand Hyatt Vail, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, the Delta in Whistler) is a spring game, not a December game.
- Use the multiplier, not the headline. A 60k Marriott night is 48k effective across a 5-night stay. A 50k IHG night is 37.5k effective across a 4-night cardholder stay. Effective prices are the honest comparison.
- Reprice dynamic awards as the season moves. Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Choice prices fall when cash falls. A refundable award booking costs nothing to rebook lower.
- Match the program to the resort's shape. Hyatt owns Vail and Beaver Creek's best math; Marriott owns Whistler and the partner-resort anchors (Ketchum, Hakuba, Rusutsu, Verbier); Hilton owns Breckenridge's new base hotel and Park City's certificate play; Choice and Wyndham own the base towns; IHG owns the 4th night in those same towns.
- Respect the dead zones. Telluride, Crested Butte's mountain village, Andermatt and the Australian resorts have no six-program answer. A guide that pretends otherwise is selling something; this one would rather save the points for a resort where they work.
Bottom Line
The Epic Pass in 2026 is a Marriott-and-Hyatt story with a long tail. Hyatt holds the two best redemptions on the map (Grand Hyatt Vail at Category 7, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek at Category 8) and the best budget one (Hyatt Place Keystone). Marriott holds the widest slope-side footprint, from Whistler's Village to the W in Verbier to the only points hotels in Ketchum, Hakuba and Rusutsu. Hilton holds Park City's certificate play and Breckenridge's new base-area flagship. IHG, Choice and Wyndham hold the base towns, Gunnison, Silverthorne, Ogden and Kimball Junction, where most Epic trips actually sleep on points.
And the pass itself changed the trip math for younger skiers: a 13-to-30 pass at 20% off buys a lot of hotel nights' worth of savings before the first lift ride. The resorts where points do not work (Telluride, Andermatt, Perisher) are named plainly above, because the fastest way to waste a points balance is forcing it into a town that never took it.
Skiing one of these this winter? Report your stay on Loyalist Travel: the status held, the room booked, the room received, and what breakfast, parking and late checkout actually looked like. The 2027 edition of this guide should be built on verified stays, not award calendars.
Sources & Methodology
2026–27 pass facts: Vail Resorts newsroom and Epic Pass help pages (launch pricing March 3, 2026; the 13–30 tier; partner access terms for Europe and Japan), SKI Magazine and SnowBrains 2026–27 pass coverage, and The Avant Ski's pass guide as updated October 9, 2026 (current prices $1,169 / $869). One conflict worth naming: secondary sources disagreed on whether Telluride requires advance reservations for Epic holders in 2026–27, so this guide makes no claim either way.
Program changes: World of Hyatt award pricing effective May 20, 2026 (five bands, Categories 1–8); Chase–Hyatt transfer ratio change effective Oct 1, 2026; Wyndham Rewards four-tier chart effective Sept 15, 2026 (5,000 / 15,000 / 30,000 / 45,000 per bedroom); Marriott Bonvoy dynamic pricing; Hilton Honors + Small Luxury Hotels of the World; Citi ThankYou → Choice Privileges ratio change Apr 19, 2026 (1:2 → 1:1.5), Wells Fargo → Choice 1:2.
Property facts: Grand Hyatt Vail (Category 7) and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek (Category 8) chart bands as published; Hotel Alpenrock Breckenridge (Hilton Curio, opened Jan 2025, former DoubleTree); The Lodge at Spruce Peak, Stowe (Destination by Hyatt, Category 8, 35,000–75,000 on the May 2026 chart); Westin Riverfront, Delta Whistler and Waldorf Astoria Park City pricing as reported in current ski-hotel roundups (Oct 2026); The Westin Rusutsu Resort and Courtyard Hakuba confirmed as Marriott Bonvoy properties on Marriott's own pages; W Verbier confirmed on Marriott's pages. Hyatt Place Keystone and Hyatt Place Park City are priced off their historical Category 4 placement; categories move, and the band follows the category in force on the night booked.
Points ranges in the resort sections are indicative winter ranges for standard rooms as of October 13, 2026, compiled from program charts and current published pricing, not live quotes. Dynamic programs change daily. Prices should be confirmed on the program's site before any transfer, because points transfers are irreversible.
