What Happened
Hilton launched Pay with Points on October 21, 2026. Hilton calls it a new Hilton Honors benefit. Members with Silver, Gold, Diamond or Diamond Reserve status can apply points toward eligible hotel charges during Digital Check Out in the Hilton Honors App.
The process stays inside the app. During Digital Check Out, an eligible member reviews the folio, chooses from the available point redemption options, and applies points toward the invoice. No front desk visit is required. Hilton states that it is the first major hotel brand to offer this type of payment through a fully digital check out experience.
The launch starts small. Pay with Points is live at 150 participating hotels in the United States. Hilton describes the starting set as a test and learn phase.

Hilton also cites member research in the release. The company states that 70 percent of surveyed Hilton Honors members were interested in using points toward on-property purchases, and that about half said the capability could make them more likely to stay or book with Hilton. Those figures describe interest. They do not describe the value a member receives per point.
Availability and eligible redemption options may vary by property. That wording comes from the release, and it matters until Hilton publishes a property list and a rate.
What It Means for Members
Silver, Gold, Diamond and Diamond Reserve Members
Status holders gain a new way to spend points at participating hotels. The option covers eligible charges on the folio at check out, rather than only the room rate booked in advance. It can be completed in the app while at the hotel or after leaving the property area, as long as the member uses Digital Check Out.
The value question is open. Hilton has not published a points to dollar rate for Pay with Points, a minimum redemption amount, or a list of eligible charge categories in the release. A member cannot judge the offer from the announcement alone. The rate shown in the app for a specific stay is the number that decides whether the redemption makes sense.
Base Members
Base members are not included. The release lists Silver as the lowest eligible tier. A member with no status does not get this option at participating hotels under the terms announced.
Cardholders
The release makes no change to any Hilton co-branded card, and it announces no card earning change. Cardholders who already hold Silver status or higher through a card fall under the same tier rules as other status holders. Cardholders with no status are not added by this announcement.
What to Do Now
No enrollment deadline is stated, and no registration step is described in the release.
- On a stay at a U.S. Hilton property, check Digital Check Out in the app before paying the folio in full. If a points option appears, the hotel is participating for that stay.
- Read the exact rate offered in the app before confirming. Compare the cash value received per point against the value of saving those points for a free night.
- If the app rate is poor, pay cash and keep the points. Flexibility is only useful when the price is fair.
- Watch for the expansion markers: more than 800 hotels expected by the end of 2026, and more than 6,000 properties in the United States and Canada expected in early 2027.
Other reporting adds two details that Hilton has not confirmed in the release. The Points Guy reports that a Hilton spokesperson said eligible members will be notified by prearrival email if a hotel is in the test, and that charges such as food, drinks and spa spending can be covered. View From The Wing reports, based on an internal owner memo it received, that hotels are paid full retail for charges covered with points. Hilton's release confirms neither item. Neither changes the missing central fact, which is the per point value.
What Is Not Known Yet
- The points to dollar conversion rate, and whether it varies by property or by charge.
- Any minimum number of points required for a redemption.
- The full list of eligible charge categories.
- The list of the 150 participating hotels.
- Whether base members will be added at a later stage.
- Whether the rollout dates for 800 hotels and for 6,000 properties will hold as stated.
Loyalist Take
A new way to spend points is not the same as a better way to spend points. Hilton has built a clean digital tool and limited it to members with status, and the rollout path to more than 6,000 properties shows intent to make it standard. The test for members is simple: a points balance only delivers value when the rate at check out beats holding the points for a room. Until Hilton publishes that rate, or members report it stay by stay, Pay with Points is a convenience feature with an unpriced core.
