A Globalist redeemed 25,000 points per night for a room that would have cost about $700 and used a suite upgrade to confirm at booking the ocean suite selling for about $2,000 per night, asking for and receiving the second-floor suite rather than the first-floor one with a fire pit because of privacy from the walkway below. On the award stay the resort fee and taxes were waived and valet parking was complimentary, saving $58 per night, and a welcome drink with ginger, turmeric and local vodka was given at check-in. Elite breakfast at VAGA runs as a 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. brunch with an entree and drink waived per person, and in his case the whole bill was removed, although an interim folio wrongly showed partial breakfast charges, parking and a $50 per night upgrade fee before all of it disappeared on the final folio. He praised the friendly prompt service and outstanding food and said he was absolutely looking to return, with lack of privacy and a small pool area as the main drawbacks.

UpgradeOne-bedroom suite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard room (points, 25,000/night) → One-bedroom suite with ocean view, ADA (room 270)BreakfastÀ la carte only
A Globalist stayed two nights on points at the then Category 6 rate of 25,000 per night and used a suite upgrade award at booking to confirm a roughly 830 sq ft one-bedroom ocean-view suite, room 270, when a standard room would have cost about $550 and the suite over $1,500. The $50 daily resort fee was waived on the points stay and the $52 daily valet charge was waived for Globalist, and Globalist breakfast at VAGA was described as one drink, one main and one side per person, though an extra shared dish was also removed. Service was excellent and laid back apart from a five-minute wait to be seated for breakfast when the restaurant was nearly empty and understaffed. He enjoyed the stay and would return, despite calling the hotel strange, with a tiny pool, a long narrow layout, and suites that lack privacy from the pool deck.
