A Globalist paid about $130 per night for a stay in the Taksim Square area and was not upgraded to a suite this time, but found room 822 spacious enough with a comfortable bed and slept well enough to avoid jet lag. The breakfast buffet at restaurant 34 was expansive, with a large salad bar, Turkish and Western dishes, a juice bar, a full bakery and made-to-order eggs, though he rated the espresso-based coffee only acceptable and suggested Turkish coffee instead. He had Grand Club access as a Globalist but arrived after the 6 to 8 p.m. evening hors d'oeuvres and cocktails had ended, using the lounge only for coffee, tea and light snacks. He called it another nice stay and said he would not hesitate to return.

UpgradeOne-bedroom suite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard King Bed room (points, 12,000/night) → Grand Suite King, partial Bosphorus view (7th floor corner, room 711)BreakfastBuffet onlyLoungeGivenWelcome amenityGiven
A Globalist booked a standard king room for two nights on points at 12,000 per night, 24,000 total, when the cash total would have been about $392, and applied an expiring suite upgrade award to confirm the Grand Suite King, a one-bedroom suite with a partial Bosphorus view that was selling for $388 per night. His room was ready on an arrival just after 8 a.m., and a welcome bowl of fruit, a bottle of wine, chocolate truffles and a note from the manager were delivered later that afternoon. Breakfast was the complimentary buffet at restaurant 34, and he used the Grand Club on both evenings, though the lounge in practice opened only from 6 to 8 p.m. despite what check-in and the door sign suggested. He praised the service and space but found the rooms and common areas dated and overdue for modernisation, and said he would not hesitate to return.
