UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade awardRoom1 King Bed room (cash, $503 plus taxes and fees per night, Member Rate) → Executive Suite (room 1701)
A Globalist stayed a few days in late November for a nearby conference, booking a 1 King Bed room on a member rate at $503 plus taxes and fees per night. He knew in advance he had been moved to an Executive Suite, room 1701, because he had used an upgrade certificate, and check-in after a delayed flight at about 9 p.m. was quick and friendly. The $40 destination fee was waived for his Globalist status and removed from the folio without him asking. He was given a voucher for breakfast in the mini market but spent very little time on property and did not have a chance to have breakfast, Bar 54 rooftop bar was closed during the visit, and long hair found in the bathroom made him question how clean the room was. He called the staff friendly and the hotel fine overall for a Times Square base, but said he much prefers the Hyatt Centric Wall Street property.

UpgradeNoneRoom1 King Suite (points, 40,000/night, standard suite) → 1 King Suite (one-bedroom suite)BreakfastÀ la carte onlyLate checkoutHonoured
For a two-night family stay the reviewer booked a one-bedroom 1 King Suite directly on points at the standard suite rate of 40,000 per night, rather than 25,000 for a standard room, and deliberately did not spend a suite upgrade award on such a short stay, receiving exactly the suite he booked with no further upgrade. Globalist benefits were handled well in his account: parking and breakfast were complimentary on the award stay, saving roughly $200 a night beyond the cash rate between taxes, the destination fee and parking, and 4 p.m. late checkout was asked about at check-in and extended without pushback. Breakfast was room service only and was completely taken off the bill, but he called it weak, with an egg-heavy menu, no pancakes, French toast or waffles, and a bagel delivered without the cream cheese listed for it. The suite sofa was dirty and stained, one pocket door kept sticking, TV reception kept freezing, and the tiny lobby could not be used late at night, but staff were notably friendly and he said he would return to be near Times Square, while preferring the larger suites at Andaz 5th Avenue for the same points. Status is recorded from the Globalist benefits he personally received rather than a direct statement.
