UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard room (cash, $129/night Healthcare Heroes rate) → Mountain View Suite 1 King BedBreakfastNot honoured

A Globalist stayed in January 2021 on a $129-a-night Healthcare Heroes rate, down from around $200, and used a suite upgrade certificate for the whole stay; the hotel then moved him further up to a Mountain View Suite, a premium suite slightly larger than the standard suite, and let him keep it for an eighth night beyond the certificate. The restaurant was closed for COVID, so the Globalist breakfast benefit was replaced with 500 points per night, the $33 resort fee was waived, and cabanas were free, but after checkout he was wrongly charged both the resort fee and parking that should have been free and needed multiple calls and a manager to get a corrected invoice, which left a sour taste. No room has a balcony, a major downside he flagged.

UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard room (cash, $212/night AAA rate) → Ocean View Suite, 14th floor (450 sq ft)BreakfastBuffet onlyWelcome amenityNot given

Staying two nights in January 2017 shortly after the hotel opened on a $212-a-night AAA rate, the reviewer asked Hyatt Concierge on Twitter to apply an expiring Diamond suite upgrade and was confirmed within minutes into a 450 sq ft Ocean View Suite on the 14th floor, though the ocean was barely visible over the buildings in between. Diamond breakfast was free, as a buffet or up to $22 a person from the menu, and amounts slightly over that were still wiped from the bill, but no Diamond welcome amenity was ever delivered. He praised the fast Wi-Fi and comfortable bed and criticised the $25-a-day resort fee for a non-resort hotel, the tiny pool closed in high winds, a $62.45 room-service dinner served in a paper bag, and the long walk to the beach, saying he would not rush back. Status is recorded as unknown because the review uses the legacy Diamond tier name, which has no canonical slug.
