UpgradeSuite, offered without askingRoom1 King Bed room (cash, $302 plus tax, Members Save More rate) → Boston University Suite (room 632, University Suite, about 800 sq ft)
A Globalist booked a 1 King Bed room for two nights in July 2025 for a conference held at the hotel, paying $302 plus tax on a Members Save More rate, and was upgraded to a University Suite, seen in the app before a 2:30 p.m. check-in. The suite, room 632 at about 800 sq ft, had a separate living room with a table for four, a desk and strong Charles River views and was ideal for hosting meetings. His $20 destination fee was waived as a Globalist and removed from the folio without asking, breakfast was offered though he had no time to use it, and late checkout was neither needed nor offered. Staff were friendly and he felt Globalist status was well recognized, calling the hotel a good choice for Cambridge despite it feeling a bit dated.

A Globalist burned a Category 4 free night certificate on a one-night stay, booking a standard room when the hotel was still a Category 4, and was proactively upgraded to a roughly 325 sq ft River View One King room that the check-in agent called one of the best views in the hotel. Suites and balcony rooms were available, but the late-evening agent showed no interest in checking for a suite upgrade. Globalist breakfast in Paperback Tavern had nice views but mediocre food and poor service, with a bagel and lox taking almost an hour, a requested 2 p.m. late checkout was granted the next morning only after an eye roll, and parking was free on the award stay. He called it one of his worst domestic Hyatt stays in recent years, citing a worn, dated room, disinterested service, a leaking and mildew-smelling fitness room full of carpet dryers, an unavailable shuttle and a $20 destination fee, and said he would not stay again.
