A Globalist booked a standard one-king room for a three-night weekend stay at 15,000 points per night, when cash rates for standard rooms were about $225 per night, and applied a suite upgrade award to confirm the 625 sq ft Panorama Suite, a corner suite whose V-shaped living and dining room felt like a fancy treehouse. Globalist breakfast at Roost was free, with a mediocre buffet and a small a la carte menu, a 4 p.m. late checkout was given on asking, valet parking at $25 per night was waived on the award stay, and no welcome amenity was provided. The suite and hotel were beat up, with flaking bathroom paint, scratched furniture and stained couch, housekeeping knocked at 8 a.m. despite a do-not-disturb sign, restaurant service was slow and snappy, a house Manhattan at the bar turned into a $25 premium-whiskey drink, unexplained $3-4 valet charges appeared on the bill and were removed, and the pool deck the check-in agent praised was closed for maintenance. He gave it a thumbs down and said he would not stay again. Globalist status is strongly evidenced by the Globalist benefits and suite award described rather than stated in a single line.
