On a four-night award stay costing 32,000 points total during a busy race weekend, the reviewer called Hyatt on March 1 as soon as the award posted and had a suite upgrade award confirmed and deducted for a Junior Suite. He checked in to find he had been given a standard room instead. After Hyatt Twitter support could not get help from the front desk that evening, the general manager called the next day at brunch, apologised and offered either a move to a suite for the remaining three nights or a full refund of the 32,000 points plus a $50 restaurant credit; he chose the refund, used about $46 of the credit with the $4 balance refunded, and the points and later the suite upgrade award were eventually returned after follow-up, plus an offer of a suite on a future stay. Despite the failed upgrade he said he had no complaints, having received a free four-night stay. Globalist status is recorded from his use of suite upgrade awards and the Globalist breakfast in the hotel restaurant described in the review, rather than a direct status statement.
