UpgradeSuite, offered without askingRoomStandard room (points, 46,000 for 2 nights) → Monterey SuiteBreakfastBuffet onlyWelcome amenityNot given
In a reader-submitted stay, a Globalist family of four spent two nights for 46,000 points transferred from Chase and was upgraded to the Monterey Suite. Globalist breakfast was complimentary each morning with both a la carte and buffet options, including a do-it-yourself fresh juice bar, and they singled out the avocado toast, French toast and eggs Benedict. The welcome drink they expected as Globalists never arrived, but parking was free, the hotel provided a complimentary s'mores kit for the fire pits, and the mid-February stay was described as fantastic, with the family already planning a return in September or October for warmer weather.

UpgradeSuite, after askingRoomKing Bed room (Hyatt Visa annual free night; cash rate $209 plus tax and fees) → Monterey Suite (room 533)BreakfastÀ la carte onlyLate checkoutHonoured
On his first stay as a Globalist, over Easter weekend in April 2017, the reviewer booked a King Bed room on his Hyatt Visa annual free night against a $209 cash rate and asked at check-in about a suite; the agent checked with a manager and upgraded him to the Monterey Suite, room 533, selling at $334, though his request for a Hospitality Suite was refused. Globalist breakfast was confirmed free for up to four adults and the roughly $60 restaurant bill was covered, and a 2 p.m. late checkout was granted on request. He judged the suite a blatant combination of two standard rooms rather than a purpose-built living space, endured children stomping overhead, long waits and weak drinks in the crowded lobby lounge, and a sub-par Benedict at breakfast, calling it the most mediocre of his many stays there while still saying he would return.
