An Explorist arrived late at night for a one-night stay before Thanksgiving at the airport property then called Hyatt Regency John Wayne Airport, now Hyatt Regency Newport Beach West, and was upgraded to a King Bed Deluxe Room, room 753 on the top floor of the main tower, slightly larger than a standard room. A 2 p.m. checkout was given as an Explorist benefit without asking. A personalized letter, treats and two bottles of water were waiting in the room, and parking was free. One of the main building's two elevators was broken, causing longer waits, and the bright LED display on the mini-fridge lit up the room at night, but he called it a fine airport hotel with low rates for the area and said he would not hesitate to return.
