UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard room (points, 20,000/night, 3 nights) → Executive SuiteBreakfastBuffet only

The hotel topped the upgrade award with a suite of almost 1,200 sq ft. Decor a bit dated for the brand was the only gripe.

UpgradeSpecialty suite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomLam Son SuiteBreakfastFull: buffet and à la carteWelcome amenityGiven

A room to rest in at 2pm while the suite was readied. Charming design, lemon cake and macarons, mixed feelings on breakfast, no lounge.

Bordeaux waiting and one of the best breakfasts since the pandemic. A lost suitcase never turned up during the stay, despite twice-daily checks.

UpgradeHigher room category, offered without askingRoombase room → pool view room

The pool view was just the other side of the building, understandable on sold-out nights. A bit of a mess: wifi needed manual IP setup.

  2. Globalist

UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade award

Usually upgraded for free, so spending an award felt like nickel-and-diming. The welcome drink became a massage offer, and new management seems to cut corners.

  3. Globalist

UpgradeSuite, after askingRoomtwin room (cash + points) → Park SuiteBreakfastFull: buffet and à la carte

The Park Suite came after a short wait, with a rollaway offered unasked. Cochine bath products, quick housekeeping and a solid breakfast at Opera.
