RoomStandard room (Category 1-4 free night certificate) → Renovated standard room

Quiet, comfortable room despite a dated tub and shower curtain. Breakfast was not included, and the buffet cost $32 a person plus tax.

UpgradeSuiteRoomRoom (type not specified in review) → Executive Suite (room 930)

Only the bedroom has windows, so the living room gets little daylight. Spacious, quiet, and one block from Michigan Avenue.

UpgradeHigher room category, after askingRoomCorner King

A minimal upgrade didn't matter with the parents in an executive suite. Kind staff, tasty breakfast, unbeatable location: would stay again.

  4. Oct 2021Globalist

    UpgradeOne-bedroom suiteRoomExecutive SuiteBreakfastBuffet only

A very large room looking out at the St. Regis and Trump Tower. The $15 restaurant credit seemed to come with the destination fee.

UpgradeOne-bedroom suite, offered without askingRoomStandard King → Executive King SuiteBreakfastÀ la carte only

Excellent Globalist treatment for a Centric, perks explained at check-in. Odd bathroom layout, fast breakfast, and would make it the Chicago default.

Best hotel buffet since COVID began, plus free parking on an award stay. Ambulances from the hospital next door were loud overnight.

  7. Jul 2021Globalist

    BreakfastÀ la carte only

With the restaurant open again, order off the menu rather than the buffet. Rooms facing the hospital can mean broken sleep from sirens.

  8. Mar 2021Globalist

    UpgradeOne-bedroom suiteRoomFull suite

No bar or breakfast yet in March 2021, so the hotel paid 500 points a day. Mostly deserted, with a very good gym.

  9. Nov 2020Explorist

    UpgradeOne-bedroom suiteRoomExecutive King Suite

Two award nights in late November 2020. Restaurant and bar closed for COVID, and the room had been disinfected and left empty for 24 hours.

UpgradeOne-bedroom suite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomSuiteBreakfastÀ la carte only

Breakfast off the menu every day: high-quality dishes, unusual options and great fresh juices. Good gym, good staff, a very nice four days.

Around $80 a night, with wine and chocolate cake for the birthday. Huge, flavorless breakfast portions, but still the favorite Hyatt in Chicago.

Moved over from a nearby DoubleTree in November 2017. Friendly desk, a new, quiet corner room with a plain view, good food and poor coffee.
