UpgradeSuite, with a suite upgrade awardRoomStandard room → Executive SuiteBreakfastBuffet only
Travelling with his wife and three-year-old daughter in June 2022, the reviewer chose the Regency over the Park Hyatt Sydney, where he had stayed on his last half dozen visits, because a suite could be confirmed here for a separate living and sleeping setup. A confirmed suite upgrade put him into a standard suite, and after he emailed the hotel noting executive suites were selling for just about $10 more per night and asked whether he could buy up, the hotel confirmed an Executive Suite as a further complimentary upgrade in advance. He also booked the night before a 10 a.m. arrival so the room would be ready. The small executive suite worked well for the three of them, though a rollaway bed he was told was already in the room took several calls to arrive. The club lounge was still closed, so the Globalist breakfast benefit was the full restaurant buffet, which was an absolute zoo on the first morning during a conference, and close-to-arrival rates were over AU$500 per night. He found everyone friendly with no real complaints, but said the hotel is not luxury in the Park Hyatt sense. His Globalist status is strongly evidenced by the Globalist breakfast benefit and suite upgrade use rather than stated in a single sentence.

Globalist
RoomRoom (cash, about $210 AUD / $150 USD per night) → High floor water view room, newer wingBreakfastBuffet onlyLoungeGiven
A Globalist on a roughly two-week trip up and down Australia's east coast booked a cash rate of about $210 AUD, about $150 USD, per night at this Category 4 hotel, where points rates run about 12,000 to 18,000 per night and make it a prime Category 1-4 free night certificate use. He was assigned a high-floor water view room in the newer wing, where renovated rooms are slightly larger than on the older side, and found the compact room warm and well designed apart from a small bathroom with a half-glass shower and a broken, dirty-looking wall lock for the soap dispenser. He had Regency Club access and used it for the breakfast spread, daytime snacks and evening hors d'oeuvre service, with harbour views and an attendant checking names at breakfast. He praised the prompt housekeeping and friendly staff, especially in the club, and called it the best all-around stay he has had in Sydney and a cost-effective alternative to splurging on the Park Hyatt Sydney. No upgrade outcome is stated in the review, so the upgrade is recorded as unknown.
